I know it's over: Frankly, Mr Shankly calls it a day

"I know it's over." So said Morrissey about yet another failed relationship, and so says Rory about his blog Frankly, Mr Shankly. It's over.

It's been fun to write this blog over the past few years, and I think I will be establishing a pastor's blog for St Matthew's Unichurch in the next few months. (I'll post a link here when that happens).

"A million voices cried out at once and then were silent." Princess Leia (or was it Obi Wan?)

It's been fun. Thanks.

Rory

So this blog name is up for grabs now, right?

Nah seriously, sorry to see it go... wait a minute wasn't it Obi Wan who said the million voices quote?

Sad that it's over. I've enjoyed keeping up with all the posts.

It was Obi Wan who spoke that line. I remember because for the first few times I watched Star Wars I mis-heard it as 'a million oysters'.
Makes a lot more sense now.

It's been warm and real ... even if you never knew I was here ...

Rory, so sad! It seems official blogging policy when finishing up is to just leave your blog untouched for the next 3 years like the bikes we all stopped riding when they made us wear those ugly stack hats. Good work at the quick and clean euthanization...

I agree with Ollie.

Very sad. But probably good for your marriage, amongst other things. I always did wonder how you found the time for it. I think you must have a 'coping with sleep deprivation gene' (ask Ness Chappell).

Hope you're feeling better.

Look forward to talking in person one day about the Theodicy thing and any conclusions reached or mysteries fathomed.

Also look forward to hearing/reading more about the adventures of the new congregation (surely there's a book title in that... like "the adventures of the magic faraway tree").

Thanks :)

Of course, you'll still read blogs, right?

Um, Rory? I just stumbled upon your blog browsing the internet. Your discussions of Hart's book are fascinating - don't you think you should finish them before you call it quits?

Rory, oy vey, why?

You are the only non-supersessionist reformed blogger I know of. I hope your pastor's blog will continue in similar vein. Otherwise I'll go home and I'll cry and I'll want to die (as Moz sang elsewhere...)

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the support.

- Yes, I will still read blogs (indeed, I am hoping that more time to read blogs will be one of the happy outcomes of this decision.)

- Josh: Thanks for the credit on the euthanization policy.

- Yes, I do intend to finish my series on D Bentley Hart. Probably finish that off here some time and/or at the new blog when it's up and running.

- James: I'm not from Sydney Uni, but I seem to have noticed that people who came through the EU there often have a non-dispensationalist and yet non-supersessionist position. I wouldnt be surprised, for example, if Byron Smith held similar views on the place of Israel in the NT as I do, but you'd have to ask him. And through the influence of Donald Robinson and some others, there are always people coming through Moore College who take a similar position. Just so you don't feel too lonely.

Peace-out,

Rory
